INSTRUCTIONS

Task 1: Disseration Draft

Task 2: Final Dissertation Turnitin report

Task 3: Flipbook

Task 4: Research Article (PDF)

FEEDBACK

Week 2 : Ms Jinchi gave feedback on what I have done, she also helps me to put on title for each section (5.1, 5.2), for the matrix itself, I can combine the same themes so it has no repetition.

Week 3 : Do not cite directly from the website, find research from books or articles. For the 5.2.1 part, I need to put visual references, as well as the poster one by one.

Week 4 : Each picture needs to have a caption which is “figure”, change the visual for the type of text part (to poster). Need to find research article, continue to do the draft.

Week 5 : For the 5.3 part, I need to shuffle it based on the percentage of which poster is the most attention grabbing poster, and for the table, I need to have a caption. other than that it is fine. The research methodology part for the survey needs to have survey design.

Week 6 : For the conclusion part, I need to add more paragraphs to describe the research methodology and limitations in the research, for the project recommendation part, it is already complete.

Week 7 : I should add findings to the abstract part, other than that all is fine.

Week 8 : Independent Learning Week

Week 9 : From the 2 layout ideas I proposed, we decided to go with the second idea, but the layout style need to adapt from the first idea (with color contrast).

Week 10 : For the cover page, the typeface is suitable though I need to reduce the font size, and do some minor changes. For the table of content page, the one with the text facing right is better. For the subtitle and content page, the one in the centered is better.

Week 11 : Briefing for Task 4, Independently finish up task 2 and 3.

Week 12 : No consultation, independently doing task 4

Week 13 : I need to change the pictures in the article, some words need to be changed, and need to change the survey question bigger. I also need to add survey design on methodology part.

REFLECTION

This module is a continuation of the Design Research Methodology (DRM) module, which makes it less stressful for me. Since we are building on what we have already done in DRM, there is no need to start from zero. However, working on the dissertation was sometime stressful, especially because we could not use AI tools. Everything had to be written in our own words, as it was subject to Turnitin checks. For me, the discussion section was the most challenging part of the dissertation. Once I got through that, the rest of the process was not as difficult.

Moving on to Task 2, which involved creating a book, I found this task incredibly enjoyable. I had never designed a book before, so getting the chance to work on a research book was both exciting and rewarding. That said, it was a bit tricky to figure out the layout, ensure the colors matched, and maintain an overall cohesive design.

Finally, the last task creating a research article was a little more challenging. It required careful decision making about what information to include and exclude, as well as finding the right visuals to complement the content. Despite these challenges, the process was engaging and taught me a lot about balancing content and design.
