Packaging & Merchandising Design - Final Project
14.05.2024
In this project, students will be required to create FIVE (5) merchandise
items, including a POP Display based on Project 2. The project aims to develop
students' skills in creating and designing merchandise that reflects the brand
and the packaging design.
Research and analysis:
In this task, I believe the most important part was the brainstorming process.
It played a crucial role in helping us explore and identify the most suitable
merchandise options that align well with our main product. Coming up with ideas
was not just about listing random items, but about carefully considering which
ones made sense for the brand and the product we were promoting. Each piece of
merchandise needed to have a clear rationale behind it — why it fits the
concept, how it supports the brand identity, and how it connects to our target
audience. We couldn’t just choose things based on personal preference; every
decision had to be thoughtful and strategic.
What made this task enjoyable was the opportunity to collaborate with my groupmates. We shared ideas, gave each other feedback, and worked as a team to bring the concept to life. It reminded me of how important communication is in a group setting — making sure everyone’s ideas are heard, staying aligned, and working toward the same goal. Overall, I found this task not only fun but also valuable because it sharpened my creative thinking and helped me understand how to develop merchandise that’s both purposeful and brand-appropriate.

Discussion
On week 11, me and my groupmate brainstorm ideas of what theme we want for our
merchandise. Then, we write down all of our idea before separating our task.
Final List of Merchandise :
- Pen Holder
- Pouch (Consist of funnel, straw, and brush)
- Hipper
- Microfiber cloth
1 Billboard - 2 Posters
1 Pop Up
After discussing about the merchandise, we separate our tasks. Then, we
combine in this presentation slide:
Draft 1 :
After showing the slide to Mr.Sham on week 13, he suggested us not to put the
process part to it and also change the microfiber cloth to make it more real.
We change some part of the slide and here is our second draft slide :
After doing the presentation on week 14, we need to change the poster bottle
to be real bottle, also add more promotional strategy. Here is our finished
slide :

FEEDBACK
Week 12
We need to have rationale of each products that we choose. For the poster
mockup, its better to take the picture around malaysia then doing it from
mockup website.
Week 13
No need to put process on the slide, show the final one only. The microfiber
cloth if can need to change so it looks more real. Overall its good to go.
